It can be difficult not to pay attention to all the bad going on in the world. But if you only focus on the negative, you might also find yourself battling the emotions of fear and anxiety all day long. Despite the negative stories bombarding us from all directions, there are many positives in the world to focus on instead.

Family: We all have those moments when our family members drive us a bit crazy. Still, family can offer a haven from the world at large. “Having a place to go – is a home. Having someone to love – is a family. Having both – is a blessing,” asserts author Donna Hedges.
Friends: Whether you like to surround yourself with lots of friends or spend time with a few close ones, friends are one of the best ways to focus your mind on the positive things around you. As Charles R. Swindoll said, “I cannot even imagine where I would be today were it not for that handful of friends who have given me a heart full of joy. Let’s face it, friends make life a lot more fun.”
Generosity: While it may seem that people today care only about themselves, generosity is, in fact, alive and well. People are more than willing to give of themselves – both of their time and their money. They have learned Francis of Assisi’s words are true: “For it is in giving that we receive.”
Today, you can choose to look for the positive things in life. Then spread those positives to the people around you. Try sharing a simple act of kindness with a family member, a friend or even a stranger. It will brighten your day and theirs.
